Equipment is available for elongational rheometry on melts, with an RME and a fiber wind up tool on an ARES-G2 rheometer. Temperature range is room temperature of to 250°C. strain rates are in the range of 0.001 to 10 /s.
Recently novel tools for biaxial deformation of solid like samples have also been developped, which may be of interest for multilayered films in particular. In these tools a film is drawn over a conical shaped heated finger and the force to do so is being measured. The instrument is mounted onto an instron tensile tester and specifications cocnerning temperature and forces are standard.
