KAO Chemicals Europe has used the EUSMI infrastructure at Lund University (Sweden) to map the internal structure of their samples with their performance. KAO: "One of the most important challenges was to find out differences between the structures of surfactant aggregates and to correlate these differences with the performance of the samples. By means of small and wide angle X-ray scattering, the structure of aggregates has been elucidated and results clearly exceed expectations: correlations have been found with the structure of the aggregates and the empirical performance tests in all the systems considered in the study. These results will help us to move our projects down-stream and secure that new products and formulations are developed based on scientific fundamentals.”.
